Proposed museum forms part of the Gerulata archaeological area with uncovered foundations of tower fortress from the late Roman period dating from the end of the 4th century. Design of the museum strives to create the atmosphere of the Roman castellum in its compact closed form and rectangular layout whilst also adopting architectural language and proportions reflecting historical antecendents. Elevated exterior walkway with two corner lookout towers became the key design feature of the proposal reflecting historical fortification system of original castellum. The walkway is visually linked to the proposed embankment on the SW boundary of the complex which allows passers-by to enjoy the view of the original foundations even outside opening hours.
