The project is a part of housing scheme called Devin Gardens, consisting of urban villas with 3 apartments to the south and building sites designated for the individual family housing development to the north. Each of the sites is benefiting from the unique view of Devin Castle, Danube valley or surrounding forest. Sensitive placement of the building within the existing environment and optimum exposure of the main living space to views and orientation was the main factor determining the proposal. Predominating horizontal lines of flat roofs of the upper floors contribute to better integration of the building within the nearby surrounds. The lower ground floor half submerged below the ground is clad in local stone to emphasize the natural character of the base. Due to hilly character of the site the main floor is placed about 4 m above the entrance level with direct access from the local road to the garage. Straight flight of stairs brings us to the upper – living floor level landing with direct access to the garden and the whole living area. Another flight of stairs is leading to the top floor level containing the bedrooms, home office room and outdoor terrace overlooking the area. Finally, exterior staircase along the north-west façade ends up on the rooftop terrace, the views are the most beautiful from here.
